Art, writing, and events since the last one of these, plus: price increases and some upcoming events. Not quite the end of the month yet, but I wanted to get this out before my next event this Saturday.

Painted a wooden postage stamp and some cormorants, then local Seattle cryptid Jimothy inspired some art and a bunch of stickers, and I busted out a bunch of ponies at the last minute before Everfree Northwest.

Recent Writing
So the review I mentioned last time did not get shorter before I posted it. It got longer. 😔 But whatever, it’s four years late, but it’s done! Along with a few other reviews:

Recent Events
Art in the Garden was a bit challenging this year… high winds made setup extremely difficult. Multiple vendors’ tent blew over before they could be weighted down, and one canopy tore. 😬 The garden was scoured and stripped of all random bricks and rocks that could be used for weights. Very thankful to neighouring vendors for letting me tie my tent to theirs for extra stability.
Despite setup taking a full two hours longer than normal, the event was still very solid. A surprising number of originals found homes here this year, including a few I’d been dragging around for a while, so that was a pleasant surprise.
And despite my stressing a lot about it, Everfree NW also ended up being great. It was actually really nice to be back after some time vortex shenanigans (eight!! years!!) and especially to see some folks I haven’t seen in a hot minute. The 2 Line made both the daily commute and a field trip with a friend to Kinokuniya very easy. Hurray for trains~ 🙏 Hope to return again next year.
Price Increases
I haven’t raised prices on prints and merch since 2018.
Obviously, lots of inflation has happened since then. Production costs have gone up, but the margin on prints and stickers has always been pretty good. I’ve still been making money; it’s just less… but of course, cost of living has gone up, too.
A notable number of people have remarked on the lowness of print prices in particular at my last several events, and some kindly suggested I raise them, so I guess it’s time to raise them.
Price updates for stickers have already been made, for the most part. There are a few stickers that are smaller/I don’t plan to restock that are still at the old price online, but it’s too annoying to price individual stickers differently at in-person events.
- Single stickers: $4 🡆 $5
- 3 stickers: $10 🡆 $12
- Single sticker sheet: $8 🡆 $12
- Double sticker sheet: $12 🡆 $18
Price updates for prints I will make probably in November, so if you catch me somewhere (or buy via my store) before then, it’s still old prices.
- Large prints (11×17): $20 🡆 $30
- 2 large prints: $40 🡆 $50
- Medium prints (8.5×11): $12 🡆 $18
- 3 medium prints: $30 🡆 $45
No change for the small prints (4×6) for now because I want to retire a majority of the current ones and reset offerings in that size. If anything, prices will be adjusted down for clearance.
Stuff I have at Push/Pull will be at their old prices until sold out, then updated to new prices when I bring in restock.
Upcoming Events
Am also confirmed for Anthro Northwest in January, which is still upcoming but not for a bit.
A lot of folks at Everfree asked me why they hadn’t seen me at ANW before, if I was local. I haven’t been back since 2019, so, as with Everfree, long enough that most people don’t remember my ever having been. As for why, I think the previous timing of the con (Thanksgivingish) made it somewhat poorly attended, which made it not a good show for me financially, despite being local.
Table fees have more than doubled since then, but maybe the January timing is better? Feels like as good a time as any to check it out again. Though FC is the week after, so idk. Guess I’ll find out. 💦
