SUNAE drawing the moment
A kinetic table crafted in HIMACS transforms furniture into an experience of design, movement and contemplation inspired by Japanese art.

SUNAE is a kinetic table that brings together ancient Japanese art, contemporary design and new technology. It transcends its role as a functional object to become an experience: a steel sphere moves silently across the sand, creating unique, precise and ephemeral patterns beneath a glass surface.
Designed and manufactured entirely in Switzerland, and largely crafted from HIMACS, the collection combines technical precision, artisanal skill and refined savoir-faire. Each movement invites the viewer to pause, breathe and contemplate as one composition disappears to make way for the next.
Its name comes from the Japanese expression 砂絵 —suna-e— meaning “sand drawing”. True to this origin, each piece is handcrafted and acquires its own identity. No two moments are the same, because the true design emerges as the sphere moves.

The perfect balance
A smooth, refined circular geometry breaks away from rigid lines and introduces a sense of natural fluidity.
ORIGIN S
With its perfectly smooth circular structure, ORIGIN S was conceived to soften domestic spaces. It is available in HIMACS Alpine White Ultra-Thermoforming or Intense Ultra Black: two contrasting expressions —light and depth— for the same choreography.
The sand, base, glass cover and structure offer extensive customisation options, enabling seamless integration into residential, hospitality and commercial projects.
ORIGIN M
ORIGIN M expands the experience to the scale of gathering. Measuring 130 centimetres in diameter, this round dining table comfortably accommodates up to six people and transforms an everyday meeting into a shared scene.
At its centre, the drawing evolves without interrupting the table’s function: movement accompanies conversation and makes the passage of time visible without imposing itself.

DIMENSION L
Every meal becomes an occasion. With generous dimensions of 200 × 100 centimetres, DIMENSION L accommodates up to eight people. More than sharing dinner, those seated around it share a poetic moment set to the rhythm of moving sand.
DIMENSION S
The coffee table unfolds as a panoramic 140 × 70 centimetre canvas. Its rectangular format sits naturally in front of a sofa and offers an exceptional surface from which to watch the sphere perform its silent choreography across the sand.
A work that exists through change
Lines, rhythms and contrasts meet in a landscape that never becomes fixed. Technology recedes, allowing the experience itself to come into view.
Minimalist design, poetry in motion
Beneath an 85-centimetre-diameter glass cover, a steel sphere silently sculpts the sand. The home becomes a calming gallery of ephemeral art, where the eye gently follows each emerging pattern.
Connected to an intuitive mobile app, SUNAE can generate an infinite variety of drawings and explore lines, rhythms and contrasts. An integrated touch control completes the experience, enabling immediate and fluid interaction.
Whether used as an object for meditation or as a striking design piece for entertaining guests, SUNAE creates a unique atmosphere. Contemplation ceases to be an exceptional gesture and becomes part of everyday life.

MaterialityHIMACS, the shape of ideas
HIMACS is a high-performance Solid Surface material used across architecture and interior design, from façades and wall cladding to kitchens, bathrooms and bespoke furniture. Its composition of minerals, acrylic and natural pigments creates a smooth, non-porous and visually seamless surface.
Thermoformable and free of visible joints, it can be shaped into fluid three-dimensional forms. In SUNAE, the Ultra range provides 30% greater thermoforming capability than the standard range, enabling precise curves, uniform tones and a monolithic presence while remaining easy to maintain.
Its durability, repairability and seamless fabrication extend the product’s life cycle. This combination of creative freedom and technical precision explains why the material functions here not merely as a surface, but as an essential part of the experience.
