LOLA Madrid Designs Luxury Lynx Holder To Parody Perfume Snobbery
Developed by creative agency LOLA Madrid, the Lynx Holder directly targets fragrance snobbery by housing standard body spray cans within a heavyweight, decorative enclosure. Mimicking the visual language and extravagance typically associated with luxury perfumery, the accessory is a substantial housing made of translucent, deep cobalt-blue glass, resembling an expensive inkwell or diffuser decanter.
The design intervention addresses the contrast between how a container looks and the perceived quality of the product inside. Standard body spray cans frequently carry utilitarian connotations, whereas elaborate bottles and inflated price points are routinely treated as indicators of premium value. According to Unilever, blind testing revealed that Lynx fragrances perform as well as, or better than, luxury scents retailing for around £350. The holder leaves the internal formula completely unchanged while exaggerating the exterior casing to confront these pre-existing visual biases.
Translating luxury tropes into satire
The physical design translates high-end fragrance cues into an oversized, decorative container. Visually, the standard matte-black aerosol can is suspended within the blue glass frame and capped by a heavy, polished silver metallic collar featuring an embossed logo. By pushing conventional luxury markers into absurdity, the design team created a playful aesthetic that subverts category conventions.

Tomás Ostiglia, chief creative officer at LOLA Madrid, said, “The Axe and Lynx Holder is a completely unnecessary and very fancy accessory. That is exactly the point. We are having fun with all the things the fragrance world tells us are needed to make something feel premium. A lot of people do not realise that the perfumers behind Axe and Lynx also create some of the world’s most expensive fragrances, so we wanted the outside of the can to catch up with what is already inside.”
Caroline Gregory, global brand director for Axe and Lynx at Unilever, said, “Axe and Lynx have always had a sense of humour, but fragrance is something we take seriously. The joke only works because the product can back it up. Blind tests show our fragrances can perform as well as, or better than, products that retail for around £350. The holder lets us make that point in a way that feels true to the brand.”
Global rollout and campaign execution
The rollout for the Axe and Lynx Holder begins in September 2026 across key international markets, including the UK, Australia, Germany, Mexico, Canada, and Argentina. The packaging accessory will be made available to consumers through selected online purchases of Lynx products alongside a series of promotional activations and collaborations. Campaign production for the project was carried out by Blue Horizon.
