Eurojust fights cross-border crime across Europe from their base in The Hague. Their headquarters hosts four hundred desks for legal delegates from many nations. Mecanoo built the twelve-story tower inside a rolling sand dune park. The agency must protect sensitive meetings from outside eyes. Direct sightlines into conference spaces are strictly barred by law. Yet staff members still need natural light and visual openness. Silo solved this tough office challenge with custom graphic glass film. Their spatial design links many cultures together through one shared mission. The studio made subtle patterns that wrap around interior glass rooms. These graphics keep talks private without building thick solid walls. The workspace stays bright, welcoming, and safe for all teams.

Spatial Design and Visual Privacy

The visual grid connects European lands through law and shared words. Abstract lines draw clear cues from coastal dunes and old treaty texts. Vertical lines and tiny letterforms create a tight graphic grid. Words from historic treaties appear like soft dot matrix print. The team placed type scaling against broad open space. Line density changes smoothly down the face of each glass panel. This clean rhythm blocks sightlines right where seated delegates talk. Upper areas stay clear so direct sun can reach the halls. The straight lines reflect legal text columns and natural dune curves. Heavy patterns sit at eye level to keep sensitive work hidden.

Silo built the system with contractor Heijmans to fit the building. The final installation uses two separate layers of film on the glass. The outer hall side holds the strong linear art pattern. The inner glass face holds a soft privacy layer. Together the two layers give rich visual depth across the halls. Sun from outer windows flows easily through the patterned glass. This tactile choice honors the building shape and the sandy ground. The glass rooms create a calm, open setting for daily team work. Through smart spatial design, Silo turned strict security into quiet art. The finished space blends discreet work zones with bright natural light.
