In his regular Professional Podcast this month Cambridge Jones is talking about the memorable time he played a version of himself in the celebrated HBO TV series Succession, shooting pictures of the wedding between the characters Shiv Roy and Tom Wambsgans.
CAMBRIDGE JONES HAS photographed a few weddings during his photographic career, but none have been as unusual as the one he covered between the characters Shive Roy, daughter of the lead character Logan Roy in the acclaimed HBO TV series Succession and Tom Wambsgans. For a start the ceremony was fictional, but Cambridge, who has an acting background, found himself invited to play the role of the photographer at the wedding, which involved covering every aspect in exactly the same way as he might have had to do at the real thing.
The crossover between fact and fiction continued as Cambridge’s character was chosen to shoot the wedding since he was a friend of Tom Wambsgans, when in fact he genuinely did have a friendship with Matthew McFadyen, the actor playing that role. Told he was to take real photographs at the wedding, Cambridge was then asked to just go through the motions on set since the click of the camera was bring picked up, only to be subsequently asked for his pictures at the end of the session!
